The Systematic Approach to Tasting is the part of WSET that keeps working long after you have forgotten which subzone of Rioja is which. It is a discipline, not a vocabulary list, and the only way to build it is to fill the same grid in over and over until the order of the calls stops requiring thought.

Work top to bottom and do not skip back. The order is deliberate: appearance sets your expectations, the nose narrows them, the palate confirms or overturns them, and the conclusion draws those observations together.
Two habits separate people who improve from people who plateau. The first is calling out loud before you write, because your first instinct is usually right and your second is usually a negotiation. The second is tasting the same wine twice a week apart, once with the label covered and once with it showing, so you learn where your palate and your expectations disagree.
When you are ready for the longer grid, the Level 3 tasting sheet adds finer scales, development, and the readiness call. If you are studying for the Court of Master Sommeliers as well, the deductive tasting grid is the same exercise with a different destination.
