You can work through a complete topic or use one small exercise between classes.

Progression is about existing knowledge as well as qualification names. Speak to a provider if you are uncertain about entry level. You do not need to complete every qualification simply to enjoy the material, and independent learning does not itself award a WSET certificate.
Build a Repeatable Study Routine
Start each session with one question you want to answer. Read the relevant section of your course material, then close it and explain the idea in your own words. Check the explanation before adding another topic. A short retrieval attempt reveals more about a gap than another pass through highlighted notes.
Use the cheatsheet library as a reference after that attempt. Use flashcards for facts and distinctions that need repeated recall. When you are ready to test a wider range of topics, use the practice test library and review the explanations, including questions you guessed correctly.
Keep a short error log. Record the confusion, the corrected explanation and a date to try again with a different prompt. If an error keeps returning, go back to the underlying lesson or ask your educator. Repeating a question until the answer feels familiar is not the same as understanding the principle.
Practise the Skill Your Exam Requires
Different levels need different preparation. Recognition practice can help with multiple-choice questions, but it cannot assess the quality of a written explanation or the consistency of a tasting judgement. Protect time for those skills instead of allowing an encouraging quiz score to displace them.
For Level 2, the revision workbook turns grapes, regions and mistakes into practical retrieval tasks. For Level 3, combine command-verb practice with the tasting calibration workshop. Diploma students can use the unit revision map to connect theory, tasting and research without treating them as one interchangeable task.
Put the Plan Somewhere You Will Use It
Choose a realistic study block and write down what you will produce, not just what you will read. The WSET study planner helps organise the next weeks around your examination date. Leave room for feedback, revision and ordinary interruptions.
Keep tasting sessions purposeful. Use small samples, spit, share bottles where appropriate and seek educator feedback on recurring uncertainties. A useful session leaves you with clearer observations, not simply more tasting notes.
