Verde Valley is a central Arizona AVA in the basin of the Verde River.
The Verde River basin lies amid higher terrain that can drain cool air toward vineyard sites. The regional consortium describes substantial day-to-night temperature variation and primarily alluvial soils. Those features help distinguish Verde Valley from a generic picture of Arizona’s low desert. The AVA is in Yavapai County. Its official geographical identity is separate from a list of wineries that may buy fruit from elsewhere in the state.
