Mesilla Valley crosses the New Mexico-Texas state line.
Mesilla Valley belongs in the wine geography of both New Mexico and Texas. The growing area follows a dry continental environment and includes alluvial soils, with sandy and loamy material described in its establishment evidence. It should not be represented as exclusively Texan or exclusively New Mexican. Its legal boundary is a statement of place, while the grapes in an individual wine still depend on the vineyard and vintage.
