Grand Valley is a high-elevation AVA in western Colorado’s Mesa County.
Grand Valley’s vineyards occupy a dry western Colorado setting rather than the humid eastern wine-growing environment. Summer days can be hot, while nights are cool. The industry board places the AVA at roughly 4,000-4,500 feet above sea level. These environmental facts explain its distinct location without implying that every Colorado winery uses Grand Valley grapes.
