Duriense IG

Duriense IG is a wine region of Douro Valley, Portugal.

The signature grape is Touriga Nacional, backed by Syrah, Sauvignon Blanc, Petit Verdot and Trousseau (Bastardo).

The climate is continental.

The vineyards themselves read as mountains and riverside.

Red wine, white wine and rosé wine, plus one more is what the region is known for, and in the glass it shows light and refreshing, bright fruits, fresh and youth-oriented and floral.

Quality is codified by the Vinho Regional, the Reserva and the Grande Reserva, which is worth reading off the label.

Producers worth knowing include Mateus & Sequeira, Quinta da Romaneira, Quinta do Crasto and Quinta do Noval.

Pour them alongside grilled meats, tomato-based dishes, spicy cuisine and cheese platters.
