Wine Vintage Charts: Free Ratings & Drinking Windows

Most vintage charts tell you how good a year was and stop there. That is the least useful half of the question. The bottle in your rack is not asking to be scored, it is asking whether tonight is the night.

So every row in these charts carries three things: a rating out of five, a verdict of drink, hold, or past as of mid-2026, and the years the wine is expected to show best. A five-star hold and a three-star drink can sit next to each other and mean completely different things, which is exactly the point.

The verdicts come from the same drinking-window logic the Sommo app applies when you scan a bottle, so a chart here and a bottle in your cellar are judged the same way. The ratings are our own reading of each vintage rather than an average of other people’s scores.

A word on what a chart cannot do. Vintage explains perhaps a third of what is in a glass. Producer, site, and storage explain most of the rest, and a well-kept bottle from a modest year beats a great year that spent three summers in a warm kitchen. Read the chart as a prior, not a verdict.
