One is to open ChatGPT and type a question in plain English. It answers immediately, in whole sentences, and sounds like it knows what it is talking about. Usually it does.

The other is to open Vivino and point a camera. No sentences, just a number, drawn from the accumulated opinion of around 70 million people.

Wine education has not changed much in 50 years. For quick wine facts and general education, it is genuinely useful.

But there is a fundamental limitation that no amount of model improvement will fix: ChatGPT does not know you. It does not know what wines you have tasted, what you enjoyed, what sits in your cellar, or how your palate has evolved over the past six months. Every conversation starts from zero.
