Account & Getting Started

How do I create an account?

Download Sommo from the App Store and sign in with Apple, Google, or Facebook. Your account is created automatically.

How do I delete my account?

Go to Profile > Settings > Delete Account. This will permanently remove your account and all associated data.

Can I use Sommo on multiple devices?

Yes! Sign in with the same account on any device to access your wine journal, learning progress, and achievements.

Wine Scanning

How do I scan a wine label?

Tap “Scan Wine” on the home screen, point your camera at the wine label, and hold steady. Our AI will identify the wine within seconds.

Why isn’t my scan working?

For best results:

  • Ensure good lighting
  • Hold the camera steady
  • Make sure the label is flat and fully visible
  • Avoid glare on the bottle

How many wines can I scan?

Free users receive 5 lifetime scans per device. Premium subscribers enjoy unlimited scanning.

What’s included in Premium?

  • Unlimited wine scans
  • All learning modules
  • Full journal history forever
  • Priority AI processing

How do I subscribe to Premium?

Tap the Premium banner in the app or go to Profile > Upgrade to Premium.

How do I cancel my subscription?

Subscriptions are managed through your Apple ID:

  1. Open iPhone Settings
  2. Tap your name at the top
  3. Tap Subscriptions
  4. Select Sommo
  5. Tap Cancel Subscription

Can I get a refund?

Refunds are handled by Apple. Visit Apple Support to request a refund.

Wine Journal

How do I rate a wine?

After scanning a wine, tap “Add to Journal” and select your rating: Would Buy Again, Solid Choice, or Not For Me.

Can I edit my journal entries?

Yes! Tap any entry in your journal to view details, then tap Edit to update your notes or rating.

Is my journal backed up?

Yes, your journal is synced to your account and accessible on any device where you sign in.

Learning & Progress

How does the XP system work?

Earn XP by:

  • Scanning wines
  • Rating wines in your journal
  • Completing lessons
  • Passing quizzes

Level up from Curious Sipper (Level 1) to Master Sommelier (Level 10)!

How do I earn badges?

Badges are awarded automatically when you reach milestones — like scanning your first wine, exploring your first region, or completing all fundamentals.

Troubleshooting

App Issues

The app is crashing

Try these steps:

  1. Force close the app and reopen
  2. Restart your device
  3. Update to the latest version
  4. Reinstall the app

My progress isn’t syncing

Ensure you’re signed in to the same account on all devices. Check your internet connection and try pulling down to refresh.

Scans are slow or failing

  • Check your internet connection
  • Ensure camera permissions are enabled
  • Try scanning in better lighting
