Introductory Sommelier Exam Prep: Free Practice Tools

Free Introductory Sommelier practice exam, flashcards, and study guide. 75 questions with explanations, 45 flashcards, no sign-up, unlimited retakes.

The Introductory Sommelier exam is a breadth test, not a depth test. It wants to know whether you can move confidently around the wine world: the classic regions and their principal grapes, how wine is made, the main spirits categories, beer and sake basics, and the mechanics of service.

That makes it a volume problem rather than a difficulty problem. The candidates who struggle are usually the ones who studied France beautifully and skimmed spirits, or who read the material without ever testing recall under time pressure.

Use the practice exam first, before you feel ready. A cold score tells you where the holes are in an hour, which is faster than any reading plan. Then work the study guide on the weak areas and let the flashcards handle the recall.
