i.Why is it so much cheaper than other wine apps?+
Because the AI is owned, not rented. Most apps that advertise AI features pay a frontier provider per query, and pass that cost (plus a margin) on to you. Sommo runs on its own model, hosted in-house, so there's no per-question tax. The price you see is what it costs to run, plus a small margin to keep building. No VC clock, no growth team to feed.
ii.Is the AI just ChatGPT behind a wine logo?+
No. Sommo runs on its own model, trained on wine instead of the open internet. It's a growing AI, refined every week with new data, fixes, and sharper reasoning. Technical write-ups are on the maker's blog if you want the nuts and bolts: how the model came together and how the grounding works.
iii.Does the AI hallucinate?+
Less than a generic chatbot would. Every recommendation is checked against a hand-maintained wine library, so the wineries Sommo names are wineries that actually exist. When the model genuinely doesn't have grounded data for a wine, the app says so rather than inventing.

Yes, via Apple's Family Sharing. Your subscription is automatically shared with up to five family members on your Family group. No extra cost.
vii.Is there a web version?+
Not yet. Sommo is iPhone and iPad only today (iOS 17+). A web companion is on the roadmap. Android is being scoped honestly. No promises until Sommo can ship the same quality.
viii.Do you train your model on my journal?+
No. Your tasting notes power your own wine character analysis only. They are not used to retrain the public model, sold to third parties, or shared with anyone outside the app. The base model is trained on public wine corpora (Wine Enthusiast reviews, Wikipedia, food-pairing datasets), not user data.

x.How do I request a refund?+
Through Apple. Subscriptions are handled by the App Store, so refunds go through reportaproblem.apple.com. Apple's policy is generous and Sommo won't try to talk you out of it.
