Vilana is a white grape variety, with its roots in Crete, Greece.

The wines show light-medium body, no tannin, medium-high acidity, dry and medium alcohol.

The tasting note runs to lemon, orange, granny smith apple, pear, floral and citrus.

It is planted most seriously in Crete and Peza.

In the vineyard it is marked by mid ripening.

It blends readily with Sauvignon Blanc, Silvaner, Muscat and Malvasia.

On other labels it goes by Velana.
