Verdea is a white grape variety, with its roots in Lombardy, Emilia-Romagna, Tuscany, Italy.
The wines show medium body, no tannin, medium-high acidity, dry and medium alcohol.
The tasting note runs to citrus, green apple, raisin, honey, floral and herbal.
It is planted most seriously in Lombardy, Emilia-Romagna and Tuscany.
In the vineyard it is marked by late ripening, high vigour and a preference for warm.
It blends readily with Trebbiano and Malvasia Bianca.
On other labels it goes by Colombana, Colombana Bianca, San Colombana and Colombano Gambo Rosso.
At the table it suits arugula salad with pecorino and balsamic, cantucci biscuits and gorgonzola cheese.
