The tasting note runs to red fruits, blackberry, spice, herbal and floral.
In the cellar it meets unoaked.
It is planted most seriously in Oltrepo Pavese and Piedmont.
In the vineyard it is marked by mid ripening, moderate vigour and a preference for temperate.
It blends readily with Barbera, Croatina and Nebbiolo.
