Tinta Amarela (Trincadeira) is a red grape variety, with its roots in Douro, Dão, Alentejo, Portugal.
The wines show medium body, medium tannin, medium acidity, dry and medium alcohol.
The tasting note runs to blackberry, herbaceous notes, black tea, herbaceous and dark tea.
It is planted most seriously in Douro, Dão and Alentejo.
In the vineyard it is marked by late ripening.
On other labels it goes by Trincadeira, Espadeiro, Rabo de Ovelha Tinto and Crato Preto.
At the table it suits rosemary and lemon pork stew, citrus-rubbed veal chops and mango salsa and traditional cornish pasty.
