Syrah - Touriga is a red blend rather than a single variety, with its roots in Alentejo, Portugal.

The wines show medium-full body, medium tannin, medium acidity, dry and medium alcohol.

The tasting note runs to mulberry, rose, soy, clove, leather and fruity.

It is planted most seriously in Alentejo.

In the vineyard it is marked by late ripening, medium vigour and a preference for warm.

It blends readily with Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, Tempranillo and Alicante Bouschet.

On other labels it goes by Syrah and Shiraz.

At the table it suits lamb livers braised in red wine, rib eye steak with peppercorn sauce and soy-glazed roast lamb with parsnip & cardamom mash.
