Sankt Laurent is a red grape variety, with its roots in Niederösterreich and Burgenland, Austria.
The wines show medium-full body, medium tannin, medium-high acidity, dry and medium alcohol.
The tasting note runs to dark cherry, blackberry, smoke and spice.
It is planted most seriously in Burgenland, Pfalz and Czech Republic.
In the vineyard it is marked by mid ripening, medium vigour and a preference for cooler winegrowing regions.
On other labels it goes by Sankt Laurent, St. Laurent, Svatovavrinecke and Vavrinecke.
At the table it suits rheinischer sauerbraten, blackened pork with apple sauce and barbecued beef ribs with caramelized onions.
