Port Blend Red is a red blend rather than a single variety, with its roots in Douro, Portugal.

The wines show full body, medium-high tannin, medium acidity, sweet and high alcohol.

The tasting note runs to jam, spice, chocolate, dried fruits, floral and herbal.

It is planted most seriously in Douro.

In the vineyard it is marked by late ripening, medium vigour and a preference for warm.

It blends readily with Touriga Nacional, Tinta Barroca, Touriga Franca and Tinta Roriz.

On other labels it goes by Port and Port Wine.

At the table it suits veal kidney in sherry (riñones al jerez), caramel slice and stilton and gloucester cheeses.
