The wines show light-medium body, no tannin, medium acidity, dry and medium alcohol.
The tasting note runs to pears, apples, stone fruits, tropical fruits, smoke and wet wool.
In the cellar it meets neutral oak.
It is planted most seriously in Alsace, Baden, Veneto and Oregon.
In the vineyard it is marked by early ripening, medium vigour and a preference for cooler regions.

At the table it suits rich pork dishes, chicken, duck, lamb and pasta with cream sauce.
