Pecorino is a white grape variety, with its roots in Marche, Abruzzo, Italy.
The wines show medium body, no tannin, high acidity, dry and medium alcohol.
The tasting note runs to nutty, floral, acacia and jasmine.
It is planted most seriously in Marche, Abruzzo, Umbria and Tuscany.
In the vineyard it is marked by early ripening and a preference for high altitudes with good sunlight exposure.
It blends readily with Passerina and Trebbiano.
On other labels it goes by Arquitano, Pecorina Arquatanella, Mosciolo and Vissanello.
At the table it suits pecorino cheese and walnut bread, steamed white fish with ginger and chicken thighs with roasted red pepper and onion.
