Nero d’Avola is a red grape variety, with its roots in Sicily, Italy.

The wines show full body, high tannin, medium acidity, dry and high alcohol.

The tasting note runs to plum, chocolate, dark raspberry, dark fruit and spice.

It is planted most seriously in Sicily.

In the vineyard it is marked by mid ripening, high vigour and a preference for mediterranean.

It blends readily with Syrah, Aglianico, Primitivo and Negroamaro.
