Negroamaro - Primitivo is a red blend rather than a single variety, with its roots in Puglia, Italy.
The wines show medium body, medium tannin, medium acidity, dry and medium alcohol.
The tasting note runs to dark berries, brown spices, earth and medicinal notes.
It is planted most seriously in Puglia and Salento.
In the vineyard it is marked by mid ripening, moderate vigour and a preference for warm, sunny climates.
It blends readily with Primitivo.
On other labels it goes by Negro’amaro, Negroamaro di Brindisi and Negroamaro di Lecce.
At the table it suits carne alla pizzaiola, lamb rogan josh and stewed lentils with bacon.
