The wines show light body, low tannin, medium acidity, dry and medium alcohol.
The tasting note runs to red fruit.
It is planted most seriously in Somontano.
In the vineyard it is marked by late ripening and requires great attention in the vineyard vigour.
It blends readily with Garnacha, Tempranillo, Syrah and Parraleta.

At the table it suits stuffed piquillo peppers, poached chicken with braised vegetables and salted cod and potato hash.
