Marselan is a red grape variety, with its roots in Languedoc-Roussillon, France.
The wines show medium body, medium tannin, medium acidity, dry and medium alcohol.
The tasting note runs to cherry and cassis.
It is planted most seriously in Languedoc, Provence, Shanxi and Catalonia.
In the vineyard it is marked by mid ripening, high vigour and a preference for warm, mediterranean.
It blends readily with Grenache, Syrah, Mourvèdre and Carignan.
On other labels it goes by Marselan.
At the table it suits roasted shoulder of lamb with garlic and rosemary, pork and black bean stew (feijoada) and lightly spiced vegetable and lentil stew.
