Kerner is a white grape variety, with its roots in Württemberg, Germany.

The wines show medium body, no tannin, high acidity, dry and medium alcohol.

The tasting note runs to apple, pear, citrus, stonefruit and floral.

It is planted most seriously in Pfalz, Rheinhessen, Alto Adige and Austria.

In the vineyard it is marked by mid ripening, high yielding vigour and a preference for not fussy about where it is grown.

It blends readily with Riesling and Trollinger.

On other labels it goes by Kerner and Kerner Weiß.

At the table it suits onion tart, grilled chicken, spicy dishes, creamy asian dishes and thai green curry.
