Kabar is a white grape variety, with its roots in Tokaj, Hungary.
The wines show medium body, no tannin, high acidity, sweet and medium alcohol.
The tasting note runs to honey, stone fruit, floral notes, herbal and spicy.
It is planted most seriously in Tokaj and Zala district.
In the vineyard it is marked by early ripening and low vigour.
It blends readily with Harslevelu and Bouvier.
On other labels it goes by Cabernet and Kábar.
At the table it suits dobos torte, foie gras and ginger, chilli and pork dumplings.
