Gros Manseng - Sauvignon Blanc is a white blend rather than a single variety, with its roots in South West France, France.
The wines show medium body, no tannin, high acidity, dry and medium alcohol.
The tasting note runs to apricot, stonefruit, herbal, exotic and pungent.
It is planted most seriously in Côtes de Gascogne, Béarn, Jurançon and Pacherenc du Vic-Bilh.
In the vineyard it is marked by early ripening, medium to high vigour and a preference for temperate.
It blends readily with Sauvignon Blanc and Petit Manseng.
On other labels it goes by Gros Manseng, Manseng and Gros Manseng Blanc.
At the table it suits sole au beurre, baked goat’s cheese and grilled asparagus with prosciutto.
