Grechetto (Pignoletto) is a white grape variety, with its roots in Umbria, Italy.
The wines show medium body, no tannin, high acidity, dry and medium alcohol.
The tasting note runs to green apple, pear, almond, floral, herbal and citrus.
It is planted most seriously in Umbria and Emilia-Romagna.
In the vineyard it is marked by mid ripening, moderate vigour and a preference for temperate.
On other labels it goes by Greghetto, Grechetto Spoletino, Greco Spoletino and Greco Bianco di Perugia.
At the table it suits pumpkin-stuffed pasta, parmesan crusted scallops and almond cookies.
