Giro is a red grape variety, with its roots in Sardinia, Italy.
The wines show full body, medium tannin, medium acidity, sweet and high alcohol.
The tasting note runs to plum, cherry, fig, spice and vanilla.
It is planted most seriously in Cagliari and Oristano.
In the vineyard it is marked by late ripening, moderate vigour and a preference for warm climate.
On other labels it goes by Gliata and Zirone.
At the table it suits sardinian cheese fritter drizzled with wild honey, chocolate tart with clotted cream and panettone.
