Garnacha - Tempranillo is a red blend rather than a single variety, with its roots in Rioja, Spain.
The wines show medium-full body, medium tannin, medium acidity, dry and medium alcohol.
The tasting note runs to red cherries, blackcurrants, raspberries, tobacco and herbal notes.
It is planted most seriously in Rioja, Navarra and Campo de Borja.
In the vineyard it is marked by late ripening, medium vigour and a preference for mediterranean.
It blends readily with Mazuelo and Graciano.
At the table it suits paella, grilled rib-eye steak with crispy potatoes and roasted venison loin with prunes.
