Furmint is a white grape variety, with its roots in Tokaj, Hungary.
The wines show medium body, low tannin, high acidity, varies and medium alcohol.
The tasting note runs to apricot, pear, lime rind, orange, nutty and spicy.
It is planted most seriously in Tokaj and Somlo.
In the vineyard it is marked by late ripening, high vigour and a preference for cool to moderate.
It blends readily with Harslevelu and Muscat Blanc a Petits Grains.
On other labels it goes by Mosler, Sipon, Moslovac and Zapfner.
At the table it suits fig, mozzarella and parma ham salad, hungarian fruit cake and roquefort cheese.
