Frappato - Nero d’Avola is a red blend rather than a single variety, with its roots in Sicily, Italy.
The wines show medium body, low tannin, medium-high acidity, dry and medium alcohol.
The tasting note runs to cherry, strawberry, black plum, chocolate, herbs and floral.
It is planted most seriously in Cerasuolo di Vittoria.
In the vineyard it is marked by mid ripening, medium vigour and a preference for frappato prefers hot, dry conditions while nero d’avola thrives in cooler climates..
It blends readily with Syrah.

At the table it suits slow-cooked beef with juniper berries, balinese smoked duck and peppers stuffed with ground beef and raisins.
