Encruzado is a white grape variety, with its roots in Dão, Portugal.
The wines show full body, no tannin, medium-high acidity, dry and medium alcohol.
The tasting note runs to lemon, stonefruit, melon, woody herbs and floral notes.
In the cellar it meets toasted barrels.
It is planted most seriously in Dão.
In the vineyard it is marked by early ripening, medium vigour and a preference for cool to moderate.
On other labels it goes by Salgueirinho.
At the table it suits pork stew with rosemary, paprika and lemon, risotto with squash and almond and bouillabaisse (fish stew).
