Counoise is a red grape variety, with its roots in Rhone, France.
The wines show medium body, low tannin, medium acidity, dry and medium alcohol.
The tasting note runs to plum, wild berry, strawberry, raspberry, peppery and spicy.
It is planted most seriously in Rhone, Provence, Languedoc and California.
In the vineyard it is marked by late ripening, low vigour and a preference for warm, sunny.
It blends readily with Syrah, Grenache and Mourvedre.
On other labels it goes by Coneze and Connoise.
At the table it suits tuna niçoise, sausage & shrimp jambalaya and grilled lamb chops.
