Corvina - Rondinella is a red blend rather than a single variety, with its roots in Veneto, Italy.
The wines show medium body, medium tannin, medium-high acidity, dry and medium alcohol.
The tasting note runs to sour cherry, herbal, light spices, floral and earth.
In the cellar it meets neutral oak and stainless steel.
It is planted most seriously in Valpolicella and Bardolino.
In the vineyard it is marked by mid ripening, medium vigour and a preference for warm climates.
It blends readily with Molinara.
On other labels it goes by Corvina Rondinella.
At the table it suits pasta with tomato, anchovy and olives, beef and vegetable dumpling soup (pancurta) and beef couscous with raisins.
