Cinsault - Grenache - Syrah is a red blend rather than a single variety, with its roots in Provence, France.
The wines show full body, medium tannin, medium-high acidity, dry and medium alcohol.
The tasting note runs to berry, spice, dark fruits, red fruits, floral and earth.
It is planted most seriously in Provence, Southern Rhône and Languedoc-Roussillon.
In the vineyard it is marked by mid ripening, medium vigour and a preference for warm.
It blends readily with Grenache and Syrah.
On other labels it goes by Cinsault and Cinsaut.
At the table it suits honey-basted duck breast, bouillabaisse, vegetable dishes, red meat dishes and lighter game meats.
