Chasselas is a white grape variety, with its roots in Vaud, Switzerland.
The wines show medium body, no tannin, high acidity, dry and medium alcohol.
The tasting note runs to fruity, floral, mineral, honey and nutty.
It is planted most seriously in Vaud, Alsace, Loire and Baden.
In the vineyard it is marked by early ripening, vigorous vigour and a preference for prefers cooler climates.
On other labels it goes by Fendant, Perlan, Gutedel and Dorin.
At the table it suits mushroom pasty, crayfish laksa and cheese fondue.
