Chardonnay - Savagnin is a white blend rather than a single variety, with its roots in Jura, France.
The wines show medium-full body, no tannin, medium acidity, dry and medium alcohol.
The tasting note runs to spice, green apple, nutty and floral.
It is planted most seriously in Jura and Adelaide Hills.
In the vineyard it is marked by early ripening, medium vigour and a preference for sub-alpine.
It blends readily with Poulsard, Trousseau and Pinot Noir.
On other labels it goes by Chardonnay-Savagnin.
At the table it suits escargot à la persillade, barramundi steamed with lime & lemongrass and comté cheese.
