The wines show medium body, no tannin, medium-high acidity, dry and medium alcohol.

The tasting note runs to green apple, pear, citrus, floral, toasty and nutty.

It is planted most seriously in Franciacorta and Alsace.

In the vineyard it is marked by mid ripening, medium vigour and a preference for moderate.

It blends readily with Macabeo, Savagnin and Pinotage.
