Casetta is a red grape variety, with its roots in Trentino-Alto Adige, Italy.
The wines show medium body, medium tannin, medium-high acidity, dry and medium alcohol.
The tasting note runs to black cherry, tobacco, cinnamon, nutmeg, sweet spices and earthy notes.
It is planted most seriously in Valdadige Terradeiforti.
In the vineyard it is marked by mid ripening, medium vigour and a preference for temperate.
On other labels it goes by Foja Tonda and Maranela.
At the table it suits grilled eggplant with cinnamon, pork terrine and vietnamese duck pancakes.
