Cabernet Sauvignon - Cinsault is a red blend rather than a single variety, with its roots in Bekaa Valley, Lebanon.
The wines show full body, high tannin, medium acidity, dry and medium alcohol.
The tasting note runs to dark fruit, pepper, herbaceous, floral, spicy and earthy.
It is planted most seriously in Bekaa Valley, Languedoc-Roussillon and Stellenbosch.
In the vineyard it is marked by mid ripening, medium vigour and a preference for mediterranean.
It blends readily with Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Carignan.
On other labels it goes by Cabernet Sauvignon-Cinsault and Cab-Cinsault.
At the table it suits mediterranean vegetable salad, moroccan-style lamb tagine and roasted game bird like pheasant.
