Cabernet - Sangiovese - Syrah is a red blend rather than a single variety, with its roots in Tuscany, Italy.

The wines show full body, medium-high tannin, medium acidity, dry and medium alcohol.

The tasting note runs to blackcurrant, red cherry, plum, pepper, chocolate and green bell pepper.

It is planted most seriously in Tuscany, Columbia Valley and Maremma Toscana.

In the vineyard it is marked by late ripening, medium vigour and a preference for mediterranean.

It blends readily with Merlot and Cabernet Franc.

On other labels it goes by Super Tuscan.

At the table it suits florentine steak with cracked pepper, grilled beef ribs and beef ragù and pasta.
