The wines show full body, medium tannin, medium acidity, dry and medium alcohol.

The tasting note runs to black cherry, forest floor, juicy fruit, earth and underbrush.

It is planted most seriously in Tuscany and Bolgheri.

In the vineyard it is marked by mid ripening, medium-high vigour and a preference for mediterranean.

It blends readily with Cabernet Franc.
