Azal Tinto is a red grape variety, with its roots in Minho, Portugal.

The wines show light body, low tannin, high acidity, dry and medium alcohol.

The tasting note runs to raspberry, cranberry, bitter cherries, tartness and spritz.

It is planted most seriously in Minho.

In the vineyard it is marked by early ripening, medium vigour and a preference for cool.

It blends readily with Vinhao and Espadeiro.
