Arinto (Pederna) is a white grape variety, with its roots in Lisbon, Portugal.
The wines show medium body, no tannin, high acidity, dry and medium alcohol.
The tasting note runs to lemon, grapefruit, peach, floral and herbal.
In the cellar it meets unoaked.
It is planted most seriously in Bucelas, Vinho Verde, Bairrada and Alentejo.
In the vineyard it is marked by early ripening, moderate vigour and a preference for warm and humid.
It blends readily with Fernao Pires and Loureiro.
On other labels it goes by Pederna, Arinto Cachudo, Arinto Miudo and Arinto Galego.
At the table it suits seafood rice, asparagus tart and glass noodle salad with barbeque pork.
