Antao Vaz - Arinto (Pederna) is a white blend rather than a single variety, with its roots in Alentejo, Portugal.
The wines show medium body, no tannin, medium-high acidity, dry and medium alcohol.
The tasting note runs to lemon, grapefruit, citrus and fresh.
It is planted most seriously in Alentejo and Lisbon.
In the vineyard it is marked by mid ripening, moderate vigour and a preference for warm and dry.
It blends readily with Perrum, Roupeiro, Verdelho and Viosinho.
On other labels it goes by Pederna.
At the table it suits seafood rice, pan-fried asparagus and crispy fried broad beans.
