Albana is a white grape variety, with its roots in Emilia-Romagna, Italy.
The wines show light body, no tannin, high acidity, dry and medium alcohol.
The tasting note runs to honey, apricot, spice, magnolia flower, nutty and creamy.
It is planted most seriously in Albana di Romagna.
In the vineyard it is marked by mid ripening.
On other labels it goes by Forcella, Greco di Ancona, Albano and Albanone.
At the table it suits glass noodles with chicken and sesame, baked red peppers stuffed with goats’ cheese and apple pie (torta di mele).
