Agiorgitiko is a red grape variety, with its roots in Peloponnese, Greece.
The wines show medium-full body, medium tannin, medium acidity, dry and medium alcohol.
The tasting note runs to dark fruit, plum, cherry, herbal, earthy and spicy.
It is planted most seriously in Nemea.
In the vineyard it is marked by late ripening, medium vigour and a preference for warm.
It blends readily with Cabernet Sauvignon.
On other labels it goes by Aghiorghitiko, Agiorgitieo, Mavro Nemeas and Mavroudi Nemeas.
At the table it suits veal stew, beef stew, green peppercorn steak and lamb dishes.
