Choose the Scan for the Job

Label, menu-picks and shelf-picks scans use the same Free allowance. Premium Score Menu is a separate way to review a restaurant list. For a clear result, include the producer, wine name and vintage where visible, then check the identification before saving it.

The core experience. Aim your camera at any wine label and Sommo’s AI reads it, identifies the wine, and builds a comprehensive profile. It handles everything from a crisp Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc to an obscure Grüner Veltliner from the Wachau.

Menu Scanning

At a restaurant, the wine list can be overwhelming. Photograph the menu and Sommo reads the list and suggests picks for you. With Premium, Score Menu gives every wine it reads on the list a quality score. Tap any wine to see full details and decide with confidence instead of guessing.

Shelf Scanning

Snap a shop shelf and Sommo picks up to three bottles for your occasion: a top pick, best value and a splurge. Useful when you’re browsing and don’t want to pick up every bottle.

Scan History Built In

Wine you’ve already scanned doesn’t disappear into the void. Sommo keeps a per-user scan history, newest first, so you can reopen any past result without re-scanning the bottle. Useful when you walk back into the same shop a week later and want to remember whether that Mencía was worth a second look.

Full Context on Every Wine Detail

When you open a wine you’ve scanned before, the detail page shows you more than tasting notes. It shows:

• Cellar placement. If the bottle is in your cellar, Sommo shows which rack and slot it’s in, and how many bottles you own.
• Journal state. If you’ve already rated and journaled the wine, the detail page shows your rating and links to the entry.
• Prior scans. Every previous scan of the same wine is collapsed into one history card so the screen doesn’t repeat itself.
